Lawsuits continue to mount over Roundup’s Glyphosate cancer connection   Meanwhile  EPA scientists are being let go in the new Administration and the public will be even less protected from toxic pesticides.

Besides its Herbicide patent, Glyphosate is patented as an antibiotic and more….Glyphosate also binds (chelates) vital nutrients such as iron, manganese, zinc, and boron in the soil, preventing plants from taking them up.1 2 3 4

Roundup to get cancer warning in California Monsanto loses as judge rules government officials can label Roundup as a cancer threat. The International Agency for Research on Cancer, a Lyon, France-based branch of the U.N. World Health Organization.  The IARC is regarded as the  global “gold standard” in cancer causing determinations, has classified the chemical as a ‘probable human carcinogen.’

Monsanto supporters compelled to acknowledge pesticide contamination of grocery products after high levels of Glyphosate are found in many consumer products on supermarket shelves.  This, despite a media campaign fraught with  misinformation and faulty industry-generated criticism on Roundup’s weedkilling Glyphosate.

Scientists say Herculex GMO corn, designed to control corn cutworm, doesn’t work.  Bloomberg News reported that farmers said: “People are frustrated and angry and, more importantly, yield was lost,” they wrote in Purdue’s Pest & Crop Newsletter. “Before growers make seed choices for 2017, we again urge the seed industry to acknowledge the reality of what is happening in the field.”

Another Glyphosate/RoundUp deception on the foods we eat – Quaker Oats “According to the complaint, glyphosate allegedly made its way into Quaker Oats “not simply because it is used as an agricultural weed killer, but because it is sprayed on the oats as a drying agent shortly before harvest. The plaintiffs, who are seeking refunds from PepsiCo., are not accusing Quaker of illegally using glyphosate but that its “100 Percent Natural” claim is “false, deceptive and misleading” since it contains the controversial chemical.

The EPA’s Office of Inspector General said Friday it will open an investigation into the spread of superweeds, and how farm workers are affected by the toxic chemicals used to combat them.

It has brought nothing but economic misery to the cotton sector there and is being phased out in that country where compensation is being sought from Monsanto.” One hundred groups representing over five million Nigerians, comprising of farmers, faith-based organisations, civil society groups, students and local community groups, are vehemently opposing Monsanto’s attempts to introduce genetically modified (GM) cotton and maize into Nigeria’s food and farming systems.  Monsanto’s application deceitfully provides no discussion on the potential risks of glyphosate use to human and animal health and the environment. Apart from the potential of contaminating local varieties, the health risk of the introduction of genetically modified maize into Nigeria is enormous considering the fact that maize is a staple that all of 170 million Nigerians depend on.(story from Sustainable Pulse)  The future of food in Nigeria is better served by small-scale farmers.

We are flying blind when it comes to understanding the risks of applying  glyphosate and other pesticides—which regulators have largely assumed  to be safe until proven unsafe. Pesticides should not be accorded the innocence rights of accused in a criminal trial. Important new research shows regulatory “safe” limits for glyphosate may not be safe at all  as some of the unlisted ingredients amplify toxicity of the formula. Glyphosate alone is usually the only active ingredient tested, while the majority of ingredients are usually other  so- called “inert”. Tests are therefore not accurate unless the full pesticide formula is tested for toxicity and other health impacts.  “The research shows that the ADI should be calculated from toxicity tests on the commercial formulations as sold and used.”

Plant virologist, plant science and crop genetics scientist Dr. Jonathan Latham speaks out earlier this year about the dangers and imprecise science of genetically engineered foods.  He has particular concerns about the most common viral promoter ( a cauliflower mosaic virus) used to create many genetically engineered crops in commercialized GE food crops today. The regulatory authorities missed and passed over it, and now humans eating the GMO foods have become guinea pigs due to damaged plant DNA not being caught with inadequate regulatory and company risk assessment.

USDA didn’t do their job when they passed GMO alfalfa, and now we have a”Houston , we have a problem”! GMO Alfalfa has dispersed into the environment as many scientists of the stature of Dr. Don Huber had warned.  In January of 2011, APHIS reversed its decision in favor of Monsanto, seemingly ignoring all the data they had uncovered showing that GMO alfalfa was not good for the environment, farmers, or consumers. PESTICIDE ENLIST DUO PESTICIDE REGISTRATION STATUS

EPA had asked to revoke the it’s own registration approval, apparently after additional data became available.  However a 3-judge panel refused to comply and the registration stands at the moment.

SCIENCE AND RISK ASSESSMENT OF EPA’S HASTY APPROVAL ON ENLIST DUO IS FLAWED AND BASED ON OUTDATED INDUSTRY STUDIES.  THEREFORE, MORE RECENT PEER REVIEWED INDEPENDENT SCIENCE FINDINGS SHOULD BE APPLIED. CLASS ACTION SUIT AVALANCHE CASCADING ON GLYPHOSATE?

The class action lawsuit, (Case No: BC 578 942) was filed in Los Angeles County California and alleges that Monsanto is guilty of using false advertisement when they say the herbicide is harmless to humans.

Judgment is currently being sought against Monsanto to prohibit the company from continuing to deceptively claim that glyphosate targets an enzyme not found in humans and for compensation to the plaintiffs.
